Art on a Postcard’s Winter Auction for The Hepatitis C Trust.

Heri Dono:

I create works by combining concepts of Animism and Animated Cartoons. All the most impossible possibilities of life in this world can be illustrated in a work of art.

“Semar as an Angel” depicts the story of a Semar figure in Java who is actually a god named Ismoyo. He incarnates as a human figure and acts as a clown. He criticized the royal officials in the kingdom and he sided with the people (wong alit). “Petruk as a Clown” tells the story of Semar’s brother in the Punakawan group. One day he became a king and brought humor to the Kingdom. In fact, his position was not that of a statesman.

“Chatting about Pandemic”, is about the current situation where there is an epidemic that does not provide certainty of life. In contemplation we realize that the certainty of life is the uncertainty itself.

“A Security of Life” illustrates a superhero who doesn’t know how to wear underwear. He wears it after wearing trousers.

This auction has been organised for charity and artworks have been generously donated by the artists to the hepatitis C trust.

Since his early career, #HeriDono has traveled around the world to exhibit and respond to workshop invitations from various countries.

In his paintings, the artist makes the most use of wild deformations and freestyle fantasies out of which emerge characters from the wayang stories. To this, he adds his profound knowledge and interest in childrens’ cartoons, animation films, and comics.
