Heri Dono’s solo exhibition “Higeki no Kigeki: Komedi dalam Tragedi” at Kyushu Geibunkan, Fukuoka, Japan, curated by Yuki Hatori.

There will be a Wayang Momotaro Performance by Heri Dono during the opening ceremony on Saturday, 9 March 2024. The exhibition runs from 9 to 24 March 2024, at 10 am – 5 pm.

Heri Dono also will perform and participate in a talk event at Fukuoka Asian Art Museum.

As a marker of the decade of Nandur Srawung, the exhibition space is divided into 6 sections, each of which presents the relationship between art and major human themes, namely: spirituality, environment (ecology), identity & inclusivity, activism, technology, and historical awareness (literacy). At this exhibition, Nandur Srawung is working with Zulfian Amrullah, as the exhibition designer who handles the layout of the exhibition space and as an artist who creates facade works that respond to the theme “Habitat: Loka Carita”.

Heri Dono is an alert, clever, and playful spy in seeing the world with all his life. The main actors in life called humans, are the source of problems, who generally make more ridiculous mistakes, resulting in a confusing, full of drama, and looks caricatural world. These values are generally voiced by Heri Dono in his works. Heri Dono often creates an atmosphere that looks chaotic; odd bodies (forms, poses, costumes, roles: double eyes, uncertain gender identity, funny facial expressions, and gestures), are complemented by magical figures such as wings in strange costumes. In short, a world viewed cynically, caricaturally, full of tragic clowns. It’s a shame that the world is only used as a caricature stage by clowns.

Dalam wicara seniman ini, kurator dan seniman akan membicarakan tentang hal-hal di balik layar penciptaan dalam pameran 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱 𝘵𝘰 𝘗𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 dan 𝘋𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮 𝘌𝘹𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴: 𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘻𝘦𝘥 𝘏𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘔𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘴𝘮.

Heri Dono dan Jompet Kuswidananto akan mengupas tuntas tentang pengalaman berhadapan dengan sensor negara, bagaimana mereka mengolah riset hingga menjadi karya seni, dan bagaimana perbedaan generasi mempengaruhi pengalaman unik masing-masing dalam berhadapan dengan kekuasaan dan menghadirkannya sebagai karya seni.

LIR akan menjelaskan bagaimana mereka menerapkan metode kuratorial yang berbeda bagi masing-masing seniman, bekerja dengan arsip, dan mendampingi proses seniman dari dekat.
